Pereslavl-based PolyER has opened a new segment for the domestic market: sealable containers made of crystallized PET.
Russia's ready-meal market is growing faster than ever: retail is expanding its own culinary operations, delivery services compete on presentation quality, and central kitchens look for solutions for long storage without loss of taste. In these conditions packaging ceases to be just a container and becomes part of the technological process.
Pereslavl-Zalessky based PolyER has taken a step in this direction, becoming the first company in the country to produce food packaging from crystallized polyethylene terephthalate (C-PET). In doing so, the enterprise opened a fundamentally new technological segment for domestic manufacturers.
The key feature of the new PolyER container K-187x137x35 C-PET is the ability to be sealed with a special film. This design ensures tightness, protects the product during transport and allows the packaging to be used in production lines. A gas-modified environment (MAP) can also be applied depending on the product and process requirements.
'C-PET combines several qualities that are critical for the food industry: heat resistance, strength, the ability to seal, and convenience of storage, transport and reheating. This gives manufacturers several key advantages,' PolyER said.
The K-187x137x35 format is designed for portioned dishes and is in demand across several segments:
- ready meals and rations for retail and corporate catering;
- meat and fish dishes with garnish, vegetable mixes;
- semi-finished products, desserts and baked goods that require reheating;
- airline catering and food delivery services.
For manufacturers this means more flexible logistics and supply planning, for retail — stable product quality on the shelf, and for consumers — a convenient 'buy-heat-eat' format in which a dish can be stored, transported and reheated without extra steps.
Recyclability is another advantage of the new material. C-PET, like conventional PET, is suitable for recycling, strengthening the product's environmental position amid tightening extended producer responsibility (EPR) requirements. The company is already included in the federal register of plastic waste processors.
It should be recalled that PolyER is one of the leaders in Russian polymer food packaging: its range for dairy processors includes PS, PP, PET and PET/PE tapes, containers and lids, flowpack and doypack packaging. In 2025 the company's revenue grew 6.1% to 9.73 billion rubles, the workforce exceeds 960 people, and annual output reaches about 50,000 tonnes.
