Italian giant Marchesini Group unveiled robotic monomaterial blister line and AI inspection system in Chicago.

Italian machinery group Marchesini Group, one of the world's leaders in packaging and filling equipment for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, presented several world premieres at PACK EXPO International 2026 in Chicago. The show, held October 18-21 at McCormick Place, gathered more than 2,700 exhibitors and became the main venue of the year for showcasing the latest packaging technologies.

The main premiere at the Marchesini booth (Booth W-24020) was an integrated robotic high-speed line for polypropylene blister packaging, presented for the first time for the North American market. The line is combined with a cartoning machine equipped with a new automatic carton magazine.

A key feature of the new line is the AI-powered Line Clearance system developed by SEA Vision, a company specializing in machine vision systems for quality control and traceability. The solution was created in full compliance with the objectives of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) — with a focus on the evolution of packaging materials and facilitating exports to Europe.

The project is aimed at gradually replacing PVC in thermoforming processes and introducing recyclable monomaterial alternatives for blisters and trays. This responds to the global trend toward greener pharmaceutical packaging and the requirements of new European legislation.

The second significant premiere was the new NPS (New Picking Station) robotic picking station — an in-house Marchesini development combining advanced handling systems with AI-based 3D vision technology, enabling ultra-high-speed feeding and handling of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.

For the cosmetics industry, the AXO 800 — an automatic tube-filling machine for filling and dosing plastic tubes — was demonstrated at the booth. Visitors also got to see the BL-H 235 labeling machine, a modular horizontal labeling machine for products of various shapes.

  • Over 2,700 exhibitors and 40+ vertical markets at PACK EXPO International 2026.
  • AI-powered Line Clearance system by SEA Vision for product removal completeness control.
  • AXO 800 — automatic tube-filling line for cosmetics.
  • Morpheus system — AI-based predictive machine maintenance.
  • Robotic blister line for monomaterial polypropylene packaging.

The Marchesini Digital package was also presented at the show, including the Morpheus system — an AI-based predictive maintenance system that monitors machine parameters, ensures optimal machine setup, and maintains a complete historical record throughout the entire machine lifecycle.

Marchesini Group USA, the Group's subsidiary serving the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada markets for over thirty years, welcomed guests at the booth and held a series of negotiations with key North American market customers.

PACK EXPO International 2026 confirmed its status as the main industry platform: besides Marchesini, more than 2,600 packaging equipment and material manufacturers from 40+ industries showcased their innovations — from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and biotech. The next PACK EXPO International show will take place in Chicago in 2028.
