In Russia, spices, soups, and deodorants will be required to carry product labeling.

Food

Labeling will become mandatory for new product groups from the grocery and perfumery-cosmetic categories in Russia starting July 1. This will particularly affect spices, soups, and deodorants. The corresponding government decrees will come into effect.

Marking with identification codes will become mandatory for manufacturers and importers of spices, sauces, and soup bases. This will apply, for example, to dried vegetables, vanilla and cinnamon, nutmeg, ready-made soups, broths or soup mixes, vinegar and its substitutes, sauce mixes, and ready-made sauces.

Also starting July 1, applying marking codes will be required for hair care products — such as shampoos and hair sprays — as well as deodorants and shaving products.

The "Chestny Znak" system has been implemented in Russia since 2019 to combat illegal trade. Currently, it covers caviar, dairy products, bottled water, non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco, beer, footwear, textile goods, fur coats, tires, perfumes, cameras, medical devices, wheelchairs, antiseptics, dietary supplements, medicines, cosmetics, household chemicals, groceries, wet pet food, meat preserves, as well as preserves made from mushrooms, berries, fruits, and other agricultural produce.
