The number of cosmetic companies organizing local production of their products in Russia will rise to 4,500 — 3.5 times more than in 2021. This was reported by Anna Dycheva-Smirnova, Managing Director of ExpoVisionRus, during a session titled "Everything Flows, Everything Changes: New Consumer Trends and the Development of Russia's Local Beauty Industry" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"We see that 34% of Russians are consciously switching to domestic brands," she also noted. According to Dycheva-Smirnova, many consumers prefer brands from their own regions. The share of Russian brands in women’s makeup bags has reached 50%.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Yurin noted that systematic work in this sector has been underway since 2022. Among the main goals are promoting Russian brands both domestically and internationally, production localization, personnel development, and scientific advancement, the deputy minister said.
Head of Roskachestvo (Russian consumer watchdog) Maxim Protasov reported that revenues of small and medium-sized cosmetic producers exceeded RUB 130 billion in 2024. He also confirmed that the number of companies has grown significantly — for example, the number of small businesses in cosmetic production doubled over three years, reaching 3,200.
According to Protasov, the share of Russian products in the skincare segment reaches 40–45%, in the professional segment — 30%, and in the decorative cosmetics segment — 25%.
